Most people have a hard time moving on from a loss of a loved one, a dream, a goal, etc. In cases like those mentioned, one has to always be prepared of anything and everything that might possibly happen.

It apparently is true that moving on isn’t easy. It takes some time and a lot of getting used to and some adjustments. These are the reasons why I always am guided by some sayings such as, “Life is too short. Everyone deserves to be happy” and that “Treat each day as if it were your last so that you savor each moment”.

We have our own way of dealing with a loss or what some call a coping mechanism. Grief or sorrow is something that reminds us that we have loved but sometimes lost…

Let us value what we have because we may never know what will happen tomorrow.I never want to lose something valuable to me that's why I'm taking good care of whatever is precious to and for me.

One is seen to be firm, strong minded, earnest, certain, determined and resolute when he is decisive. To reach the level of firm decision, it is said to pass through a thorough analysis, deliberation, consultation and a mature and rationale mind set.

We do this especially with the most important things we have to decide on like the person to have a relationship with, the person to marry, where to live, what job to take, how many children to have, what business to undertake, and a lot more.

In my case, especially in one of the careers that I have chosen which is in politics, I have firmly decided to run again in 2010 but I am not yet decided as of yet on just going for re-election or to listen to individuals, sectors and groups that are urging me to run for a higher post. I was elected at age 27, the youngest City Official right now and I’m just on my first term not withstanding such I am blessed and honored to be considered as a serious and viable candidate for a higher post. I am thankful of the warm support and great trust of the people. I have a few months more to go before I make the final decision. I have so many factors to consider such as my family, my chances, the support of the people, my readiness for the post and the responsibilities with it, the finances needed, the organization, the group I would run with, the plans and programs after possibly winning the position and most importantly what is best for the City of Iloilo. For now, I will continue my work for the City and continue with my consultations with the people. I will listen to them. My political strength comes from the people and I owe my post to them.

Indecision sometimes is good because it gives time for one to think about things well before making as life changing decision and be committed and firm to that decision whatever the results will be.

Have you experienced being used to just acceptable or low standards that when you try out something new or better than what you are used to it’s hard to revert or go back to the old one?

In my case, I set pretty high standards for my career, love life, things I do and want, and even to the simple things I enjoy doing. I always believe in doing things excellently and I try to better myself in anything I do and make sure I go beyond what I did before or accomplished. As such, when there are times that I experience or I am forced to experience something less than my recent high standards, I feel uneasy, awkward and something seems to be not right. It might just simply show that I have been used to high and good standards like having the best or going for excellence, and being honest and truthful, among others, which makes me think why should I go to a lesser standard than what I am used to, what I am capable of reaching and what is much better or even the best.

Let us not settle for anything less or second best if we can do and have the best or what we aspire for. There is definitely nothing wrong in keeping our standards high.

A Journey is defined by Microsoft Thesaurus as a trip, a voyage, an expedition and a passage.

In life, each of us has our own respective journeys particularly in our career and love lives.

I always hear some people say, “Everything happens for a reason”. We might have wanted something or someone and no matter how hard we try it didn’t just work out. We may have felt bad, depressed and think less of ourselves. Some even feel that there is no reason to live anymore and some just focus on what was lost that they sometimes don’t see that a better and the best for them has just passed by or has arrived.

God knows what’s best for us and he gives it at the time he feels is best. As the cliché goes, when a door closes, a lot of windows open and sometimes what is outside of the window is something more than what we wanted and expected. God truly knows not only how to satisfy our needs and wants but even to delight us.

So, don’t feel bad if not everything is going your way in terms of a love prospect or a career option. It might just mean that you just have to be patient because you are just starting or in the middle of your journey to get, have and keep what’s best for you.

As one of my friends had said, “always keep your eyes open so that you would know when the end of your journey is near and you are about to reach your goal”.
