March 3, 2009
The Graduation season is about to commence. It is said to be the most awaited day of diligent and excited students, hard working and loving parents, and proud teachers and school administrators. It is the time when all the hardships and sacrifices will be all worth it. As my public servant friend has said, “what you sow is what you reap”.
In my case and experience, I have been privileged and blessed to have attended the said best schools of the land and to have even pursued further and continuous schooling. I have already graduated five times from four educational institutions. I finished my elementary and high school from La Salle Green Hills, Ortigas Extension, Mandaluyong City. I obtained my AB Economics Degree from Ateneo De Manila Univeristy, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. I completed my Basic Management Program from the Asian Institute of Management located at Paseo de Roxas, Makati City. I was one of the youngest of my batch at age 26 who got my MA in Public Management major in Local Government Administration from University of the Philippines-Open University Diliman Campus, Quezon City. I am also planning and looking forward to obtaining my Doctor of Management with specialization in Public Management degree at a young age of 29 from the Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City. I feel also blessed, and due to the upbringing and training of my parents, that I was a student council and student organizations’ officer and an academic excellence awardee.
It is usually a happy moment when graduation day comes but it is also a bitter sweet moment. It is also the time when we say goodbye to the familiar faces, places and lifestyle we have gotten used to for years. It is also the start of the days when we will miss our closest friends. It is also a start of a new beginning in unchartered waters.
The day after graduation, we will face a new reality that a more challenging time is ahead of and for us. Given such, we should be secure enough and confident that with good education, a good and positive attitude, with our family and friends supporting us, and with God’s blessing and guidance, we can face whatever obstacles and hindrances that may come.
Let me be one of the first to greet you the 2009 Graduates, your parents, your teachers and school administrators, Congrats! Ugyon Kabataan. Ugyon para sa Kauswagan.
Para sa kauswagan sang Syudad sang Iloilo, UGYON Kabataang Ilonggo, UGYON Iloilo. Ilonggos are worth working and fighting for.
