Some of you might remember the movie with such a title. It was about fate and chance working together. I always hear some of my friends say, the world will conspire to make something good happen which is some say the essence of the book, “The Alchemist”.
In my younger years, I always believed that we were the captains of our ship and the masters of our soul. We choose our own adventure that leads to various outcomes depending on one’s decision. I never left anything to fate. Along the way, when I was growing up and becoming more mature, my experience taught me that there are times when if you want something and go for it too much, that something evades you.
Have you experienced really wanting so much and ending up getting frustrated or disappointed because you don’t get it? It may be a job, a career, a person of your dreams, a position, a school, etc. What happens then is we sometimes get depressed and might think lowly of ourselves. Some even go to the extent of experiencing deep depressions. The most noticeable thing when we experience such that is very true which is mentioned in the common cliché, “When one door closes, a number of windows open”. Most importantly, some of the “windows” are even much better than what we originally planned and wanted.
I have had a number of frustrations in my life for not getting what I wanted but it changes to appreciation since I got or get something much better at the most unexpected time. It does happen. Thus, I now believe that good fortune is always a result of hard work and fate. God always has good plans for us. We should just trust Him. He knows when would be the right time for it to happen. Let us just patiently wait for it.
I feel so blessed to have had a lot of good things come my way from my academic achievements, career milestones and love interests. Just put your trust in the Lord, He knows what’s best. Patience is truly a virtue. When the right time comes, we will realize it and say, it was all worth the wait and the sacrifices.
